  1. I was using CamStudio to record a training class. I went back into the room at the end of the day and the software had crashed. I'm guessing because it was recording for 8 hours. I have two temporary files on my computer one for the video and one for the audio. The file size is a little over 4GB. Is this video and audio lost or is there anyway I can make it so that it can be played. For today's training class I'm using camtasia and I'm going in there every few hours and saving the video so I don't have any problems.

The temp files probably are the missing video/audio.
Whether you'll ever get them to play is another thing entirely.

Have you tried renaming them with the proper file extension - eg. video.avi ?

  3. The file is already saved as an avi. I just can't play it.

Have you tried open them in an editor like virtualdub and avidemux?

Perhaps the index is missing. Try opening it in Virtualdub. On the file/open screen select "extended options"
and choose redrive keyframes on the next screen.

If still no-go, see what you can find at their site and/or contact the author:
