I did a Google search for this and have seen several solutions. I tried this and it didn't seem to work http://forums.virtualdub.org/index.php?act=ST&f=7&t=14639&st=105
Is there a way to open mp4 files in Virtualdub? I thought I would ask instead of trying out all of the suggestions that I read about.
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

I use fcchandler's Quicktime Plugin and ffdshow, configured to use libavcodec under VFW Codecs to open h264/avc.
The first thing that should be done after downloading Virtualdub is to download all of fcchandler's plugins and place them in the appropriate plugins folders (32 & 64 bit) and install his ac3 and aac acm codecs.

IMO, the ffinputdriver , directshow input driver (or Avisynth script) should be your last option if the correct Codec and input plugins won't work (rare).
