    Hey all,
I just used EAC today to rip a CD. Just FYI, it's a more complete release of the "It" soundtrack.
Anyway, on many of the tracks I hear occasionally clicking. When there's a quieter moment or the track is fading out, it sounds almost like a drummer clicking his sticks together.
Is it possible that a poor job ripping the CD might cause this or *shudder* is it truly on some of the tracks?
    Thanks,
    Justin

    Did you just question EAC?....publicly?

Eek! Yeah, I know that EAC is a staple to many, many people. I'm just not sure what's causing what I'm hearing.
If it might be significant, I should mention that I was listening to the FLACs I created, rather than waves or MP3s.

    Did you activate the AccurateRip.feature...
That usually compares your rip's CRC with a database of albums ripped...
Also can you care to send the log created by the program after the rip...

I don't have the log, unless it's stored somewhere I wouldn't know of.

The log isn't saved unless you actually tell the program to do so.

Press F9, then click on the "Tools" tab. Check the boxes next to "Automatically write status report during extraction" and "Append checksum to status report."

Try ripping the CD again. Click on Action, then Test and Copy Selected Tracks. It'll rip the disc twice (once as a test, once in the format of your choice) and if the CRCs match then the rip was good.

Another possible problem is that your DVD drive is incorrectly configured. Press F10, then click on the 'Drive' tab. Press the "Autodetect read commands" button and wait a bit. Then go to the Extraction Method tab and click on the "Detect Read Features" button.

You can also use the Autoconfigure option to have EAC fix all these issues if they exist. Hope that helped.

Edit: And as an EAC fan, I can admit that the program has a lot of bugs that need to be worked out. It's good but it's not ... perfect.

I have used EAC for many years, and a few years exclusively at least!!

I have never had an issue or noticed any bugs, i am not saying there are not any, i just have not come across them.

I use EAC in AccurateRip mode, to copy cd's to cdr's, to WAV on my HDD and to FLAC on my HDD and have never had any problems.

Years ago i used to be a big fan and use another program, but i'll be damned if i can remember the name of it.....

I know hech54 know's the name of it, you know it, because i have seen you (hech54) recommend it over EAC more than a couple of times

I was about to fire up CDex yesterday on a CD....but realized the (home made)disc had some playing issues in VLC....so I ripped it with IsoBuster.

I used CDex for years, but it kept ignoring any errors on my CDs. I ripped a CD with it and it said it had no errors, but after I tried to do that with EAC, it couldn't because it was damaged. CDex didn't care.

I guess it just got confused by my disc drive.
