  1. I've had an LG LRH-539 for some time now. I typically burn to DVD+R because I can choose a thumbnail before finalizing -- this does not seem possible when using a DVD-R. Recently, when I insert a blank DVD+R the machine doesn't recognize it or misidentifies it as a DVD+RW. The discs can't be formatted; in the latter case, it asks whether I want to format the DVD+RW...if I say yes, it spits out the discs and tells me to check it. The weird thing is that the DVD+R discs that I finalized just a few days ago are played perfectly by the machine. It does handle DVD-R and DVD-RW discs correctly.

I upgraded my firmware, but that didn't fix the issue.

I'm wondering if anybody has a suggestion.

Is there software that will create an initialized DVD+R disc that the LG can handle? Doesn't it "just" create an open video mode disc? I can't find software that can do this, but it seems likely that if I could format a disc on my PC the machine would recognize it.

    Thanks!

  2. I am having the exact Sam issue on the same model; did you get yours fixed? My warranty expires in 15 days, go figure.. I am getting it in but I hope it doesnt blow away the videos on the hard drive...

That forum is for LG optical drives. Here is the one for DVD+RW Video Recorders:
