From and to what?
If from a computer you might have to change the default audio controller to the HDMI Output(in the Control Panel->Sound->Playback).Last edited by Baldrick; 11th Dec 2014 at 06:29.

We need more data.
HDMI is backward compatible with DVI and DVI by definition is without audio so if Your HDMI is in DVI mode then no audio is OK. -
My system was set-up via component.
I bought a Component to HDMI converter, video is great however no sound.Cheers from downunder. -
Hi ,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI
Also what kind of cable you own ?
Cheers . -
Connected to HDMI port 1.
HDMI M to M - Video is excellent, no sound.
One further question:
Does a HDMI port actually have sound ?Cheers from downunder. -
HDMI does carry sound.
However, it is necessary to configure your PC's sound card to send audio through the HDMI connection when using a PC as a source. You didn't say whether you did that or not. So, have you done that?
[Edit]Forget what I said about configuring the PC audio card. I missed the part where you said you are using a Component to HDMI converter. The Component to HDMI converters I have seen have an additional connection for audio, either digital audio (optical or coax), analog RCA stereo audio or an analog 3.5 mm audio jack. The audio output from the converter is delivered via HDMI.
You need to connect your component to HDMI converter's audio input connection to a matching audio output connection on the PC, and set up the PC sound card to use that connection.Last edited by usually_quiet; 11th Dec 2014 at 14:26.

Red, Blue and Green = Video.
Red and White = Sound.
All 5 cables were attached and
all 5 cables are attached to the converter.Cheers from downunder. -
Make sure the HDMI input on the TV is set to get audio from the HDMI port, not the RCA audio or S/PDIF port.

Hi ,
Below an example , about changes that can be made inside the BIOS .
****
User Manual FM2A88M-HD+.pdf
==========================
BIOS
----
Onboard HDMI HD Audio
This allows you to enable or disable the “Onboard HDMI HD Audio” feature.
DVI Function
Use this to select DVI function when you install the DVI to HDMI adapter to DVI port.
Configuration options: [as Dual Link DVI] and [as HDMI].
If youselect [as Dual Link DVI], you can use Dual Link DVI monitor without audio function.
If you select [as HDMI], you can use HDMI monitor with audio function.
The default value is [as Dual Link DVI].
****
You have to read the "User Manual" of your motherboard .
After this go inside the bios for the appropriate settings .
Regards .
