I am in the process of converting several family photo albums to DVDs so the older generation w/o computers can enjoy and share the old family photos. I have down loaded GUI0952 and understand most of the operation. I have made sample DVDs using only 20 or 30 JPG files and have made some DVDs that work.
I have done more research and the part of the program that I am using as DVDslideshowGUI, that I am having trouble with is HCenc version 23. HCenc is using my C: drive for temporary storage and I want to change where it puts the temporary files due to space problems on C: drive.
Thank you for any assistance you can give me. I am semi-computer literate.

    To path:
    C:\Program Files\DVD slideshow GUI\
    Files:
    HC.ini
    HC_fast.ini
    HCBD.ini

Try adding the lines (with the path to your temp folder).
    *LLPATH E:\TEMP
    *DBPATH E:\TEMP

    e.g. for HC.INI
    *dc_prec 10
    *WAIT 0
    *BITRATE 7000
    *MAXBITRATE 7500
    *AUTOGOP 15
    *AVSMEMORY 3024
    *PROFILE BEST
    *PROGRESSIVE
    *PRIORITY HIGH
    *LLPATH E:\TEMP
    *DBPATH E:\TEMP

    From the HCEnc V26 Docs:
    *LLPATH
    parameter path type character string
    Status not required
    Default -
    Example *LLPATH E:\tmp
This command sets the path for the intermediate lossless file.

    *DBPATH
    parameter path type character string
    Status not required
    Default -
    Example *DBPATH E:\tmp
This command sets the path for the intermediate database file.

    Cheers!

Well I tried the suggestion, but no luck. I am not sure of what parameter is overriding the ini file, but it is doing a good job.

This is what I ended up with in all three .ini files for HCenc.

This is the HC.ini file in two different configurations. This is also the .ini file that is being used by HCen version 25 (I upgraded from version 23). I know this because I experimented with the bit rate setting to see which .ini file the program was using and the bitrate changed with the setting I used.

    *BITRATE 7000
    *MAXBITRATE 7500
    *AUTOGOP 15
    *INTRAVLC 2
    *MATRIX mpeg
    *AVSMEMORY 1024
    *LLPATH E:\TMP
    *DBPATH E:\TMP

    This is the HC-FAST.ini file

    *BITRATE 7000
    *MAXBITRATE 7500
    *AUTOGOP 15
    *INTRAVLC 2
    *MATRIX mpeg
    *AVSMEMORY 1024
    *LLPATH E:\TMP
    *DBPATH E:\TMP

    This is the HC-FAST.ini file

    *WAIT 0
    *PROFILE FAST
    *SILENT
    *BITRATE 1
    *MAXBITRATE 1
    *CQ 1
    *DC_PREC 8
    *NOSCD
    *NOSEQ_ENDCODE
    *NOSMP
    *NOVBV
    *PROGRESSIVE
    *PRIORITY HIGH
    *SILENT
    *LLPATH E:\Tmp
    *DBPATH E:\Tmp

    This is the HCBD.ini file.

    *BITRATE 20000
    *MAXBITRATE 25000
    *AUTOGOP 15
    *DC_PREC 10
    *PROGRESSIVE
    *PRIORITY HIGH
    *PROFILE BEST
    *WAIT 0
    *LLPATH E:\Tmp
    *DBPATH E:\Tmp

I also added in the LLPATH AND DBPATH COMMANDS TO THE "NEW.INI" THE POPS UP IN THE DIRECTORY IN C: DRIVE THAT THE PROGRAM IS USING FOR TEMP STORAGE.
Addition suggestions will be checked as soon as possible.

    Hmmm?

I have 3 drives, not 3 partitions, in my PC.
I have set, as a default, my temp folders to e:\caches

    What I did was:
    First make a folder 'E:\CACHES\TEMP'

    Then:
Right click on 'My Computer" ( under the 'Start' button)
Select 'Properties' / the 'Advanced' tab / 'Environment variables' button

In the top window edit the "User variables' TMP and TEMP paths to read E:\CACHES\TEMP

In the bottom window edit the "System variables' TMP and TEMP paths to read E:\CACHES\TEMP

    Reboot.

I also pointed my Internet Explorer cache at E:\CACHES
And my Firefox cache at E:\CACHES\FIREFOX (first create the folder 'E:\CACHES\FIREFOX')

    This may help.

    Luck!
(I am running Win7 x64. My advice/instructions will, sometimes, need to be adjusted accordingly.)

Actually, most DVD players seem to be able to display a CD or DVD of JPEGs as as a slideshow without any other structure.

Also, even if you want to use the slideshow generator, you can add a folder on the DVD with the original images so they can be accessed from a PC.

I would like to thank everyone that tried to assist me with my problem. I solved it by changing the size of the partitions on my hard drive. The simpleton way of doing it, but if it works why fight it. Thank You again for your assistance.
