    It sounds like you enabled ffdshow's on-screen-display (OSD) and have it set to show the movie length. Right click on the video window while it's playing, hover over Filters..., look to see if Ffdshow Video Decoder is in use. If so, select it, in the left pane scroll down to OSD and disable it.
