  1. I have an M4V file and it has an AAC 2 channel stereo and AC-3 6 channel surround audio tracks. I want to select the AC-3 audio track for my final AVI output file. How do I select this audio stream in VirtualDub? I have the latest version VirtualDub, version 1.10.4. I tried VirtualDubMod, but that doesn't support MP4/M4V video files. Yes, I installed the plugins for both the MP4 and AC-3 files in the "Plugins" folder in VirtualDub.

Give mymp4boxgui a try, or mkvtoolnix/mkvmerge for an MKV file.

  3. You should be able to select the audio track in vdub by audio=> source audio => (choose stream 1 or 2)

But some input plugins might only allow you to access track 1, so it depends on how you have it configured

  4. Demux the AC3 stream from the M4V file with MP4Muxer (or ffmpeg, or whatever). Then add the AC3 file to VirtualDub with Audio -> Audio From Another File.
