I'm trying to do a screen recording of a bluray special feature on Star Trek TOS S1D1. I have the original disc, but I don't think I can actually rip the special feature I'm trying to get (Starfleet Access version of Where No Man Has Gone Before). So, I'm trying to do a screen record of it. However, all I get is a black screen with audio. I know this has to do with an overlay, but I have no idea how to fix it. Any suggestions? Thanks.

  2. Use MakeMKV or DVDFab HD Decrypter or AnyDVD to rip Blu-ray
Screen recording usually not get best quality with drop frames from Blu-ray

I would love to, but I don't think that is possible with this particular title on this bluray. It contains pip which certainly isn't working in MakeMKV. I'll try the others, but I think screen capture is the only way...

Will I have the same problem as I'm having with Camtasia? The overlay of the video being played isn't being recorded...just the audio. Is there some way to force the bluray to play not in a overlay?

  7. From my tests I have no problem Screen capture from PowerDVD10
    with Camtasia version 8.4 on Win7 64bit

Try another capture software like Mirillis Action!
that better than Camtasia from my tests

Change video render. Or change player. Use one that do not use Overlay render. You can try MPC-HC or PotP with EVR-CP or madVR.
