i'm afraid that all you are going to get if you remove any chips from the circuit board is a dead unit.

I think dvd recorders are very difficult to make region free, you are better off getting a cheap dvd player that is or can be made region free, and just FYI dvd's recorded on a dvd recorder or even a burner I think, are not region encoded?

I was just wondering on the Region Free thing, cause I have one also, it is a samsung, and I thought they pulled out a chip or something, cause on the box it says region 1.
But I was really wondering about the coding on the DVD's that makes the DVD recorder not record, how do I bypass that. -
It isn't possible to bypass copy protection by hacking a DVD recorder's firmware or modifying its hardware.
Why else do you think that the Google searches you presumably did before posting here turned up nothing?
