sony dru-710a dvd+r /dvd-r

hey guys i have a question on my sony dru-710a ok it used to burn both dvd-r /dvd+r
but now it just wants to burn the dvd+r and not the dvd-r can it be the setting or???
if anyone can help me out it would much appreciated thank you

GQ 16X and they both uesd to burn the movies i get ?

Use DVDINFO PRO or DVD IDENTIFER to find out the MEDIA ID for GQ 16x dvd media. My bet is the discs you're using is junk. Try using VERBATIM or TAIYO YUDEN dvd media.

Btw your SONY 710A dvd burner is a rebadged BENQ 1640 drive. You could crossflash your drive to the official BENQ firmware and use QSUITE 2.1 to tweak your burns.

GQ is the generic brand used at Fry's Electronics. You never know batch to batch if they are the same manufaturer. Try a better brand.

I have a Sony DRU-710a (made by Lite-On). Mine works with many but not all DVD-r but only works with +RW not -RW so far. I hear there is a firmware update for -RW.
