  1. I'm using vegas 6.0 - and the only codecs available for WM audio are windows media 9.1 - I need to encode in 9.0 - is there a way to install older codecs so that vegas can encode in these older formats? I've downloaded and installed a pack from MS that includes the older codecs - is there a way to get vegas to recognize these newly installed (older) codecs?

    Thanks

WMA std is backwards compatible so it should make no difference.

    Needs to be 9.0. Period.

Is there a way to make it encode in 9.0?

Why? Like I said WMA std is WMA std. Doesn't matter if it is 7, 8, 9 or 9.1, its all the same.

You should be able to just replace the dmo encoder with the older one.

Just had a quick look and it looks like it is wmadmoe.dll "Corona Windows Media Audio 9 Encoder/Transcoder".

I've found if you select the NEWER WMV output template, using the CUSTOM BUTTON
I can make WMV 9 into WMV 8 by altering the pulldowns..and SAVING MY SETTING with a new name

sorry this for sony 5.0 may apply to 6.0
and it does matter wmv 9 can't be played by my clients (some)
