  1. I have a folder of videos with 2 channels of audio on each avi. I'd like to strip them of channel 1 and make channel 2 the default (make it channel 1). Is there a way to make a script or something that will work through all the videos in the directory and do this for me without have to convert/recode them all?

    PS. Total newb here.

Define what you have better. Are you really referring to that practice in the Soviet Union where they used to do voiceovers in Russian on top of the original dialog? If so, there's no way at all to remove the Russian voice over. I'm familiar with the practice as I speak Russian and I've traveled to that part of the world. In such cases your sound is probably mono and you won't be able to remove the Russian voice over. If you mean something else, then give an example like "Left channel is Russian, right channel is English" - something like that.

  3. There are 2 audio streams. When I play the video in media players I have to go into audio settings and change from Audio 1 to Audio 2. Audio 1 is Russian and Audio 2 is English. They seem to be two entirely seperate streams. I'm not good at describing it in technical jargon but I assume I have a video channel, a russian audio channel and an english audio channel. Both audio channels seem to be in stereo.

Seems to me that you only have a muxing problem. Try avidemux to get rid of the stream you don't want.

Once installed, check that video and audio output are set to copy and output format to avimuxer.

Then file>open>audio>select track, oncheck the one you want to eliminate>file>save as.

Sorry but I didn't notice that you have an H264 file in an avi container, perhaps you should use the mkvmuxer.

You should also change your title to 2 tracks of audio, not channels.Load the file in mkvmerge and put the audio you want as the first audio.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.
