I'm trying to convert an avi to mp4 via the H.264 x264 codec. The end result is a file that's video is sped up considerably, like 2x though I can't say for sure exactly.
What's going wrong?
Thanks!

I don't know why the x264 output is sped up, but
the fix is to activate Decode with QuickTime in the Options tab. -
I gave the "Decode with QuckTime" option a try. What I got was all white with garbled audio. Any other ideas?

Well, no wonder it came out bad from quicktime. The avi was done with xvid and I din't have the codec. I'll try again now that I've got the codec and seen the avi play in quicktime.
Thanks! I'll let you know how it turns out. -
Decode with QuickTime works only if QuickTime Player can play the file correctly.
1/ Install Perian, a free open source component, to extend the decoding capabilities of QuickTime (XviD and many more).
2/ Confirm that QuickTime handles your AVI now, by playing it in QuickTime Player.
3/ Convert with ffmpegX with Decode with QuickTime activated.
