I have a new JVC GZ-HD7 camcorder that makes a 1920x1080i .mpg file with mpeg audio. I would like to convert these to the hr.hdtv (960x540). My current media player will handle this fine. I look to upgrade to a media player that will handle h.264 someday. Haven't been able to find much on this subject and am hoping someone here can shed some light on this for me.

    Thanks

    Thanks Baldrick,
I had tried those before with no decent results. I tried StaxRip again and it worked wonderful!

Lots of us are waiting for such players. I had some hope that a DLink player that is out now might be the answer I was looking for. It can play H.264 and HD video, but then I found out that any bitrates over 6000 Kbps are too much for it to play smoothly, so that's a no go for me. I archive a few things from HD TV captures in MPEG-2 at bitrates over 11000 and a player that can't handle them is useless to me. My advice would be to keep waiting.
