  1. Ripped a cartoon from a disc using dvd2avi. I have both the audio and video file located in the folder they were created in.

Tmpgenc will accept the audio but not the d2v.

    Why would that be?

Does it give an error message?

  3. Yes. It says, "File: "C:\movie\movie.d2v" cannot open or unsupported."

Or has your trial of Tmpgenc Expired?

Do you still have the original file in the same place as when you ripped it with dvd2avi to get your d2v file ??

Because if you deleted, moved or changed the name of the original file you used to get the d2v file, you will get that.

Raise the directshow priority maybe, here.

I think you need to raise the priority of the DVD2AVI D2V File Reader in this case
    If in doubt, Google it.

  9. Okay, to answer everyone that has responded:

1 - My copy of Tmpgenc is registered.

2 - I did install the Vfapi plug-in in both the Tmpgenc folder and in the dvd2avi folder.

3 - All the vob files were put into a folder on the harddisc and have not been moved. No name changes.

4 - I first raised the priority of the dvd2avi d2v file reader and then I also raised the priority of the directshow. Neither of these changed the situation.

5 - I got the AVI Codec program. It will not recognize the d2v file either.

I've used this routine before on another computer with no problem at all. This is confusing.

I saw that you wrote everything was in the same place after i posted

Just for sake of elimination, you also did not move the d2v or rename it ?

And AVIcodec won't show any info on d2v file as it's basically just a control file, not video.

Other than that, it is strange because the only times i ever had that problem was fomr renaming something without thinking about it.

  11. Which version of DVD2AVI you have used to make d2v?

Guessing, VFAPI can not work... If you import d2v will VFAPI accept it & convert? Had this happen, where it wouldn't convert d2v more then once -- resetting wmplayer as default for all file formats fixed it.

Also FWIW, if you can use Avisynth instead, conversion might/should be better qual then 24 bit RGB used by VFAPI.

  13. I used ver 1.74

Don't know why it would matter. It worked last time I used it.

I let myself get frustrated by it all again tonight, So I'll have to wait until tomorrow to take the more recent suggestions. But I will do that and try avisynth.

    Thanks
