BTW I also read over there about some program called "Streaming Video Recorder" that might be able to do all these have you any experience with it whatsoever and could comment on it's capabilities vs the method with the Php, the batch files and all that jazz?

1) rename the file AdobeHDS.php to AdobeHDS.php.old

2) go at https://raw.githubusercontent.com/K-S-V/Scripts/master/AdobeHDS.php .
Save the file as 'AdobeHDS.php'

NOTE : The instruction for update was missing in the first 'AdobeHDS.php' .

works thanks It downloaded the Fleadh video but i'm not sure to where? it's not in the c:\php folder

I am surprised !!!
Normally you should have a file in c:\php .
Look again and see if exist a big file .

php AdobeHDS.php --manifest "http:... --delete ..." --outfile Your_video.flv (<== or .ts)

Hi,

I'm new to all this but I have a good head for computers, I'd like to be able to download off the RTE player. My mum is currently in hospital and she loves Fair City & Home and away and I'd like to grab them for the last week.
Anyway!
I have been reading through and I'm struggling and confused with alot of posts. I know this is fustrating for past members but can someone give me please 1 detailed guide on what i need to download and instructions on what to do I have a windows 7 intel i3 system.

If anyone on here could please help I'd be grateful

Ok I have tried half of the stuff but I'm stuck at the firefox add on the easiest of them all i know when i download the add on it say successfully but the icon does not show up so when i go to enable it say its works but something on my firefox is not letting me do it i even still tried loading the page but nothing loaded even restarting it something is rejecting the icon from showing up

If anyone can get me the 3rd episode of Charlie and Yesterdays Home And Away 28-01-15 RTE1
I'd be grateful, I'd still like to learn this but for future.

Thanks for your help, I actually tried this yesturday and it eventually worked! I had to reset firefox completely stupid add ons and then clicked into link two.

what's the actual title of the video ? for example, i was able to download 'Oi Ginger' using youtube-dl, so you should be able to for the one you want, but the one you posted (above) is not working.

if you tried youtube-dl, but was unsuccessful, it is because you must use it correctly. there is an order in doing things with it. follow them that way and you can get most videos available that aren't restricted. anyway. to use youtube-dl correctly or most efficiently, following these simple short steps for any video but don't expect success in every video url link you try.

note: don't just use youtube-dl and the url to download. it will most likely fail and discourage you any further with it.

1. enter a url to search for, you want to verify the url is a non-restricted one
2. use the -F parameter followed by the url in question
3. get the video format you prefer the video to be in, ie, 18=640x480, 22=1280x720, etc etc
4. download the video per the video format you chose in step 3
5. finished

do step 1/2/3 first. then do step 4 to finally download the file. steps 1/2/3 first test or verifies the url is capable of being decoded and a video file is found, then it gives you some useful info about the video, especially the format, that you will then feed into the final download step.

example usage

youtube-dl --no-mtime --write-description --write-thumbnail -l -t --no-part -c -f f4m-1024 http://www.rte.ie/player/us/show/10365010/

parameters explained

--no-mtime          --- use the current date on the final downloaded video.mp4 file
--write-description --- inlucde the description/details about the video, sometimes it is blank.
--write-thumbnail   --- include the picture of the video
-t                  --- deprecated, use title in file name (default)
-l                  --- deprecated, alias of -t
--no-part           --- do not use '.part' files - write directly into output file
                        (note, sometimes it does '.part' in real-time but the finished file will be an .mp4) 
-c                  --- resume or continue the broken or interupted download
-f                  --- the url

if the download is interupted or stops for some unknown reason, just reissue the download string again in the above example usage, that's the reason i include the -c parameter always, because my DSL blanks out on me for unknown reasons.
