Pioneer DV-444 standalone player.
Many rental DVDs now have a trailer that's played after inserting the DVD which I usually want to skip, pressing 'menu' has no effect, I have to manually do a visual fast fwd to the end of the trailer. Similarly the copyright notice can't be skipped straight to the menu. How do I bypass these and go straight to the menu?
Thanks.

Hello,
You could try using the remote and using the title button and selecting title 1 (which is USUALLY the main movie ). Though you'll have to experiment with each movie to find out which title is the actual MENU.

Ok, I'll try that. Presumably this changes with each DVD depending on how many trailers / copyright notice, etc.?
Thanks. -
In my experience, you can always press the menu button (title menu usually, maybe not root menu) during previews, but never during the FBI warnings. This is designed into the DVD, using what's called UPO (user prohibited operations) [EDIT: oops, PUOs prohibited user operations]. Short of ripping/modifying your DVD, there isn't much that you can do...

I know that some DVD players ignore some of the PUOs, wouldn't it be great if you could hack your player to ignore them all at all time (kind of like you can usually hack it to ignore region settings)?
