Using AVCHD for first time, not made it very far as I get error 0x0401 when converting video.
Google search did not provide the answer!
    Video is HD MP4 file from samsung s10 camcorder (1920 x 1080i 50 fps H264).

Below is the log file from AVCHD, in addition I have uploaded a test file (2 seconds in length (5mb in size) to http://time2innov8.co.uk/files/avchdtest.mp4 in case anyone wants to try it.

When you installed avchdcoder did you also install avisynth?
Can you play the mp4 in windows media player?

The mp4 file plays correctly in WMP.
AviSynh was installed as part of AVC, I have tried installing again, made no difference.

I have attached the test file as It doesn't want to download from my website.

  5. IIRC, AVCHDCoder can test your configuration to be certain you have the correct versions of ffdshow, Haali, and AviSynth, and that all are working properly. Have you done that? Or tried another source file to see if AVCHDCoder chokes on that as well?

    Maybe try BDRB instead?

AVCHD fails at the same point (once video conversion starts).

The plugind (ffdshow.. etc) have all been installed through AVCHD.

    I will check out BDRB.

    fritzi93,

    Thanks for the lightbulb moment!!
I wasn't aware of the test facility in AVCHD, when I tried it, the conversion failed.
I have uninstalled AVCHD and all plugins, carried out a full re-installation and my videos are being processed correctly.

    Thanks again

  8. Yeah, all the free Blu-Ray to Blu-Ray programs are a little touchy. Glad you're sorted out.

I suggest you try BDRB as well. The differences are more in the GUI (and presets) than in quality, since both use the same "toolkit". The recommended versions of the helper programs are different, but it's probable that BDRB will work fine if AVCHDCoder is set up properly. At any rate, it would furnish a basis for comparison.

    Good luck.

AVCHD looks like it could be a brilliant application, but I get error code 0401 every time. A fresh install of Windows still gives me error code 0401, tried it on another machine and it's the same.

The developer's site suggests it may help to update ffdshow. It also recommends to uninstall some specific codec-packs mentioned in the installation pdf: http://tools.twanwintjes.nl/uploads/AVCHDCoder/Guides/Installation%20Guide%20%28English%29.pdf

However, did you check if AVCHDCoder is "allowed" to use ffdshow in the video-configuration --> directshow control? Maybe that helps?

    Cheers

    Ennio

Edit: MediaInfo says about the testfile you uploaded that the format is main@L4.2

Don't know for sure if it has something to do with the error code, but can AVCHDcoder or ffdshow handle that kind of input - or maybe isn't set to do so?

By the way I re-encoded your testvideo with VidCoder and had no problems.

Not to resurrect a long dead thread, but I also had the errorcode 0x0401 and got here via googling the code. After updating all plug-ins, etc etc I was still throwing the errorcode. I used the decoder tester and found 64bit fail consistently. I unchecked the 64bit mode in settings, ran the tester on 32bit, and all is good.

Maybe 64bit is still a tad touchy in beta, or ...
