I have tryed to read around in this convertingsection, but I'm afride I'm confronted with a jungel task in converting my mp4 files I have filmed with my sanyo camera with 29.97 fps to a format I can edit for use here in Europ.

What would be a simple way for convorming mp4 29.97 fps to avi, or any format I can import in a 25fps project in Premier Pro CS4 ... ?

I have tryed to import the mp4 29.97 fps file in to P.Pro and export directly to a uncompressed avi file.
The result is a .avi 25 fps file, 10x in file-size.

Can anyone tell me why, and if this resulting file is ok? I just use it, edit it and the result is a 25 fps file that is ok in a 25 fps contekst?

  3. file size = bitrate * running time.

Select a suitable compression codec and use a lower bitrate.

PP is probably just throwing away 1 frame in every 6 to convert 30 fps to 25 fps. The result is probably jerky. View a smooth medium speed panning shot. You will see 6 little jerks every second. Are you trying to make a DVD? If not, why are you converting the frame rate?

You can make a NTSC 29.976fps DVD as it will work on most european systems.
