    Someone sent me 3 videos. All 3 go squished vertically after about 5 seconds of play in VLC - but can be viewed
    normally all the way through in AviDemux. I tried to SAVE AS MPEG-PS (.mpg) via COPY but the resulting mpg file
    was the same....goes squished after a few seconds. Can anyone tell what is wrong with these vids....besides someone
    using Nero to work with video?

  2. Did you try DVD Patcher? (available in tools.) Adjust aspect ratio, patch "entire file." You may want to duplicate the originals for safety.

    Display aspect ratio is set in both IFO and VOB. I am wondering if it's set to 16:9 in the IFO. You can use IFOEdit to examine the IFO and see what the DAR is set at there. I have no explanation for your file saving issue, but a different setting in the IFO would explain why VLC does what it does.

    This came from one of those people that thinks VOB Files are "better" than the original MPEG2 file so all I have are the VOB files. I guess I'll back one up and run it through DVDPatcher for shits and giggles.

    DVDPatcher didn't fix it. Re-encoding it with MainConcept fixed it. I may as well do a bit of filtering in VDub, replace the audio on them(they are music videos) and re-encode them. They are only VHS sourced anyway......never released to DVD.
