FCP5.1.4-unable to open projects

keeps happening with recent projects,
i 'll try to open them and get a message telling me that -
"this project is unreadable or may be too new for this version of FCP "
just tried opening 2 recent projects i was working on earlier this evening ,
got the message with both of them ,one has now opened,
will try trashing prefs and seeing if this has any benefit ts
anyone else come across this or know why it happens?
it only happens with one project and copies/updates i've made of the same project

i'll give that a try, thanks,
yesteray i reinstalled osx and reinstalled fcp studio 5.1,
when i use software update to update from 5.1 to 5.1.4 the updates no longer show up,
why is this?
how do i update back to 5.1.4?
all my projects were created in 5.1.4 which im guessing is why, when i try to open them in fcp 5.1 i get "general error 41"
if it ain t one problem!................
