Hi gurus
Is there a way to encode / decode blackmagic 8 bit videos on linux (ffmpeg, mencoder, transcode, virtualdub via WiNe ... ??)

Do not see it available for Linux. Maybe download the windows version and try installing it with Wine. Not sure if that will work, but it's wortha shot.
You can get the Blackmagic Codec from their website here
