Hi, this is my first message. I'm Francisco, from Spain, and first of all, I'd like to thank you for the outstanding software compilation at this site.
Well, time came, and it's two months I installed my ASUS BW16D1HT. Some movies do work on my Samsung 5500 BluRay player and some don't. All of them have been created using tsmuxer from MKV's or from original BluRay.
For example, a ripped copy from Jurassic World BlueRay, directly extracted with AnyDVD HD and tsmuxer into a BD25 format (BDRemux), does perfectly play on the Samsung and this is the data that MediaInfo from MediaPlayerClassic I can see when I play it on the computer:
And, this is what I obtain from a movie that canot be played on the Samsung:Code:Video ID : 4113 (0x1011) Menu ID : 1 (0x1) Format : AVC Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec Format profile : High@L4.1 Format settings, CABAC : Yes Format settings, ReFrames : 4 frames Codec ID : 27 Duration : 2h 4mn Bit rate mode : Variable Bit rate : 24.9 Mbps Maximum bit rate : 32.0 Mbps Width : 1 920 pixels Height : 1 080 pixels Display aspect ratio : 16:9 Frame rate : 23.976 fps Color space : YUV Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0 Bit depth : 8 bits Scan type : Progressive Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.501 Stream size : 21.6 GiB format_identifier : HDMV Source : 00000.m2ts Audio ID : 4352 (0x1100) Menu ID : 1 (0x1) Format : DTS Format/Info : Digital Theater Systems Mode : 16 Format settings, Endianness : Big Codec ID : 130 Duration : 2h 4mn Bit rate mode : Constant Bit rate : 768 Kbps Channel(s) : 6 channels Channel positions : Front: L C R, Side: L R, LFE Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz Bit depth : 24 bits Compression mode : Lossy Stream size : 683 MiB Language : Spanish Source : 00000.m2ts Menu 00:00:00.000 : Chapter 1 00:06:59.168 : Chapter 2 00:11:01.827 : Chapter 3 00:18:28.440 : Chapter 4 00:25:34.866 : Chapter 5 00:31:20.837 : Chapter 6 00:39:23.861 : Chapter 7 00:44:07.853 : Chapter 8 00:48:57.225 : Chapter 9 00:55:51.056 : Chapter 10 01:01:21.344 : Chapter 11 01:09:50.561 : Chapter 12 01:15:25.479 : Chapter 13 01:23:51.860 : Chapter 14 01:30:14.700 : Chapter 15 01:36:45.424 : Chapter 16 01:41:15.652 : Chapter 17 01:47:35.282 : Chapter 18 01:53:06.029 : Chapter 19 01:55:37.555 : Chapter 20 02:04:21.000 : Chapter 21
I believe this ocurrs due to some incorrect VidCoder manipulation, I mean: I'm afraid, that all downloaded mkv done with VidCoder, or all mkv I've recoded (due to file size, in order to fit it onto BD25) have something (headers, video format or whatever I don't know) that do not adjust to bluray standard and the Samsung player refuses to play (although it recognizes and try to load the discs, notice that).Code:General Complete name : H:\\BDMV\PLAYLIST\00000.mpls Format : Blu-ray Playlist File size : 436 Bytes Duration : 2h 19mn Overall bit rate mode : Variable Overall bit rate : 0 bps Video ID : 4113 (0x1011) Menu ID : 1 (0x1) Format : AVC Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec Format profile : Main@L4 Format settings, CABAC : Yes Format settings, ReFrames : 4 frames Codec ID : 27 Duration : 2h 19mn Bit rate mode : Variable Bit rate : 20.0 Mbps Maximum bit rate : 40.0 Mbps Width : 1 920 pixels Height : 800 pixels Display aspect ratio : 2.40:1 Frame rate : 23.976 fps Color space : YUV Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0 Bit depth : 8 bits Scan type : Progressive Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.543 Stream size : 19.5 GiB Color range : Limited Color primaries : BT.709 Transfer characteristics : BT.709 Matrix coefficients : BT.709 format_identifier : HDMV Source : 00000.m2ts Audio ID : 4352 (0x1100) Menu ID : 1 (0x1) Format : DTS Format/Info : Digital Theater Systems Mode : 16 Format settings, Endianness : Big Codec ID : 130 Duration : 2h 19mn Bit rate mode : Constant Bit rate : 768 Kbps Channel(s) : 6 channels Channel positions : Front: L C R, Side: L R, LFE Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz Bit depth : 24 bits Compression mode : Lossy Stream size : 769 MiB Language : Spanish Source : 00000.m2ts Menu 00:00:00.000 : Chapter 1 00:04:39.946 : Chapter 2 00:11:29.480 : Chapter 3 00:16:39.289 : Chapter 4 00:25:54.052 : Chapter 5 00:33:43.896 : Chapter 6 00:41:44.585 : Chapter 7 00:46:41.006 : Chapter 8 00:52:10.710 : Chapter 9 01:02:31.414 : Chapter 10 01:06:16.680 : Chapter 11 01:14:16.868 : Chapter 12 01:22:34.032 : Chapter 13 01:33:21.137 : Chapter 14 01:38:27.484 : Chapter 15 01:45:40.083 : Chapter 16 01:53:54.452 : Chapter 17 01:58:31.062 : Chapter 18 02:06:19.863 : Chapter 19 02:11:31.174 : Chapter 20
I hope you could help me. Thanks.

1920x800 (using 2.41:1 AR) is not a valid resolution for Blu-ray, simple as that. It would need to be padded (letterboxed) out to 1920x1080, just like the other file's resolution. Might be other issues, but that one is obvious right away.
Scott -
Your second file is 1920x800 which is not Blu Ray compatible. (There may be other compatability issues as well, but that's a biggie.) It sounds like you're trying to simply burn files to a disk rather than properly authoring them.
You can find more information by going to What Is/Blu Ray at this site's header.
It also sounds like you may be downloading copies of movies that you have not bought -- which is prohibited and will not be discussed here.
(edit: Scott beats me to it again!) -
Thank you cornucopia. God bless your eyes, didn't see that. I'll look for some procedure to reformat the resolution. First of all possible corrections, I'll test that one.
Smrpix, thank you for the advice, but of course I've been already careful talking about those mkv files. I'd never write here about piracy sources or whatever like that, which could compromise this forum. Think about treating this with just technical academic purposes. No titles, no source sites.
Thank you Baldrick, but... How can BDtoAVCHD handle mor than one audio track? I've not tested but... It seems to run tsmuxer internally so, the result could be the same, could not? -
Ok, I'm getting it with BDtoAVCHD. Maybe MultiAVCHD can also do it.
But it's eternal, the process is endless. Vidcoder takes just 1 hour to encode into MKV a 2 hour blu ray movie. BDAVCHD needs 2,5 hours.
I got some of the process with Vidcoder customizing the resolution into one of that BDMV compatible. This shortens the process, then lets me use txmuxer, but vidcoder kills the aspect ratio. A 2:35 movie plays on the blu ray as a expanded 1:85 frame, vertically distorted. Is there any way to get customized output resolution in vidcoder but mantaining A.R.? -
Ok it works. BDtoAVCHD is a valid option. I've also reached VidCoder configuration parameters that gives a BluRay compliant source for direct muxing. I've noticed that there is a new amount of time for encoding due to the cropping of the video to a compatible resolution. Here's what I'm using in VidCoder to get it:
Next taxes: Obtain fully compatible BD9 BluRay and obtain main forced subtitle for BD25.
Thanks a lot!!! -
Ok definitively it Works, thanks to all.
Next challenge it's to author BluRay with forced subtitles.
