I have on my computer Windows Movie Maker for Windows XP (Pro), AVIdemux, AVStoDVD (with ImgBurn) and VirtualDub and VirtualDubMod.

Is there a way I can replace a section of video only (lay it down over a portion of existing video), but leave the rest of the video intact and also have the audio remain intact?

    Thank you.

  2. In any of these programs you have to "cheat" it. Cut the audio and video into sections, replace the video for the middle section, then recombine the sections seamlessly. Windows Movie Maker is probably the simplest tool of the group simply because you can see what you're doing most easily. (Provided it will accept your original file, of course.)

A more sophisticated NLE like Vegas Movie Studio (my first choice), Premiere Elements or Pinnacle 16 makes this very simple to do.
