Most Sony players cannot be hacked, and the few that can don't use simple remote code hacks. To make matters worse, this is a specialty unit. Specialty units typically cannot be hacked and require new firmware to make any changes.

    New firmware?
Any idea how I go that route?

    Thanks, much appreciated.

You would have to get it from Sony.

Any direction there on what exactly to do, are you talking about software that is available somewhere on the open market?
I'm not interested in dealing direct wih them, if it can't be bought at retail, forget it.
This is an area where I am familiar with anything.

I've not seen anyone (with a few exceptions) that has modified firmware for public use. Specialty players can hardly ever be "hacked" because the firmware is specially made for that unit and in the process all options not supported are locked. I've only ever seen users get updated firmware with a different region for automobile DVD players (Chrysler/Ford).

You suggested it, so I asked further about, but thanks anyway, life goes on, otherwise I'm pretty happy with the player.
