  1. I am new to this forum, but need some advice regarding my Viewsonic NMP-570W Media Player. I have several videos created in .VOB format that I want to convert and play on this media player. The media player only supports .MPEGII, .MOV and .WMV video and MP3 audio formats. I have converted the video to each of these formats, but the audio doesn't play. I know that it is a codec issue and I am looking for advice on a video converter that will be compatible with the media player. I have contacted Viewsonic twice with web inquiries, but apparently they are too busy to respond. So I was hoping to find some help on this forum. Thanks to any of you who can help!

VOB is MPEG2. If the audio in these VOB files is AC3 or multi-channel (5.1), that would be the first place I'd look.

The video resolution looks goofy as well. 640x480 may be your only hope?
Expensive piece of kit that doesn't accept 720x480 or 720x576?

  3. Hech54, thanks for responding so quickly. I am not sure of your advice however. When I look at the properties of the .VOB files, there is nothing in the "audio" section which notes any type of format. Just bit rate- 224kbps, channels- 2 (stereo) and audio sample rate- 48kHz. Is there somewhere else I should be looking?

Install MediaInfo on your PC. Open a problem file with it and post back EVERYTHING it tells you about the file. Cut and paste it all and put it in a new post in this thread. And tell us what program you used to convert that file. It could be that your program is converting to an unsupported audio format such as possibly AAC.

  5. I will give this a shot but I may have an issue. This issue is work-related. We have an IT department (centralized service) that does not allow me to do any downloads of any type. I have to submit a help ticket (or "No-Help Ticket" as we like to call it) and they will determine if they will allow the download or not.
