My main video editing software is VirtualDub, but it has one big drawback -- it's perfect when you want to save a strip from a video or cut out unnecessary parts, but it becomes very cumbersome if you want to split a video into multiple parts. Say, I have a four hour video that I want to split into eight or nine parts. The only way I know to do it is to do it one by one with VirtualDub, and that's a LOT of work. I'd much prefer if I could just clip out the unnecessary parts, then set cut markers, and having the process run itself automagically.
Any suggestions?

Assuming the latest version of VirtualDub.
Load the file.
Set Compression (and Smart Rendering if required).
Set start and end of the first clip.
File >Queue Batch Operation (or Ctrl Shift F7) > Save as AVI and browse to where the clip will be saved and give it a name (clip1) (it won't be saved yet, just a batch file is being set up).
Select the next clip and Ctrl Shift F7 and give it a name.
Repeat as necessary.
When ready to process, go to File > Job control.
A list of the clips should be listed 'Start' to begin processing.Last edited by sambat; 6th May 2011 at 19:36. Reason: Clarity

Thanks! I didn't know the selection tool can also be used for saving clips, rather than just cutting.
