  1. Does anyone know if there is any way on linux to play the microsoft wmv files? can't seem to find anything about it on the net anywhere.

    Yes, mplayer and xine will play wmv with the correct codec's installed.

    Yes oldcpu is correct with one exception.
    Those that require licences from the owner can't be played because.
    mplayer and xine don't go out and get the licence like medaplayer will.

  4. ok, thanks. i have mplayer running now with the codecs and all seems to be well. i cant find a feature to loop a video though, there seems to be no settings for it anywhere. on MS-windows programs they always have an option to click to auto-repeat.

    i guess its just a minor complaint, maybe in a future release it will be addressed.

    IMHO, I think VLC Media Player is the better of the two. It has the ability to loop an audio or video track.
