  1. I am wondering if there is a program that can convert high quality mkv files to avi without losing quality

    Absolute only reason i wanna do this is because xbox doesn't support mkv

    any help would be appreciated thanks

  2. Sure you can remux from MKV to AVI. That's like taking a cake out of one box and putting in another. The real issue is whether you have a player that can play the audio and video codecs used. For example, a DIVX DVD player will not play h.264 compressed video regardless of what container it's in. In a case like that you have to convert the video from h.264 to DIVX. That will cause at least a small loss of quality.
