    Hi guys,

i have a problem with virtualdub and virtualdubmod. I have an *.wav file and virtualdub says that the decompressor is missing.
Is there a way to get a codec for it that virtualdub can convert it to mp3 with a videofile?

Here the info about the file:
    General
    Complete name : E:\Anime - Nippon Animation\Nippon Animation - Others\Fushigi na Koala Blinky (Noozles) [German Dub]\Bearbeitung\11 audio.wav
    Format : Wave
    File size : 453 MiB
    Duration : 20mn 36s
Overall bit rate mode : Constant
    Overall bit rate : 3 072 Kbps

    Audio
    Format : PCM
    Format profile : Float
    Codec ID : 3
    Codec ID/Hint : IEEE
    Duration : 20mn 36s
    Bit rate mode : Constant
    Bit rate : 3 072 Kbps
    Channel(s) : 2 channels
    Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz
    Bit depth : 32 bits
    Stream size : 453 MiB (100%)

    Thanks for the help

Your "problematic" .WAV file is 32-bits FP.
You should convert it to something "more usable" with (for example) Audacity.
Or with sox, if you're not afraid of the command-line interface

Don't be confused with multiple ACM codecs in system - some of them decode MP3 - select Lame ACM.

Thx El Heggunte and pandy for the fast answers.
Ive installed the Lame ACM in 32 and 64bit but the same fault. In virtualdub and virtualdubmod.

You're right ElHeggunte but i dont want to convert the file twice for quality reasons.

Hmmmm. isnt there anything i can do?

  6. It doesn't get converted twice

In vdub , audio=> "audio from other file" ("point" to the location of previously converted file) , audio=>direct stream copy

You're probably not experiencing any additional benefit from the higher bit depth, anyway,so no apparent loss even if there is a "conversion".

  8. Install ffdshow - i misunderstood your problem - seem you have no decoder for float 32 bit PCM - this is very strange but...
Install ffdshow and configure audio decoder in ffdshow to support raw pcm (all depths) this should help - i tested lame acm and i have no problem to encode in vdubmodplus video with mp3 audio at once.

Register ffdshow as decoder for all raw audio format.

ffdshow audio decoder configuration -> codecs -> Uncompressed - change disabled to 'all float'
    It should be fine...

But i think issue is somewhere else - maybe with file itself...
