Hi - I have a lot of .mpg files of varying volume that I string together on DVD. Is there any easy/batch way to normalize the audio for these on a permanent basis.

As a followup, if there is such way to do this, would other batches be normalized similar? Let's say I normalize a batch of mpgs today and then tomorrow, I normalize another batch. Would those two batches be normalized as to where I could mix and match the files and they will be at similar volume levels, or do the files normalize to each other (thus, the first batch would be at similar volume levels to each other but not to the second batch?)

I'm not afraid to demux if I have to.

    Thanks for any help!

Really tough to do with Mpeg files because of the sync problems that happen with demuxing and remuxing.

Well, you could do that but you'd lose a good deal of quality. It would be so much easier if they were AVIs.

    With MPEG2s, you'd have to:

Demux the Audio and Video with DGindex

Convert the Audio to stereo WAV

    Normalize the WAV

Convert the WAV to Mp2 or AC3

ReMux the new audio track to the correspoding video track

    Big PITA.

Hello Soop, I had the same problem many, Many, Many years ago...!

Since you are making DVD - maybe do what I did...!

I bought a copy of DVD Author Pro by Pegasys software (Used to be called Tsunami Software).

This software lets you normalize the audio among all of the tracks.

I Level the audio manually - It only takes a few minutes..!
