    Hi,

I have a MP4 file that got corrupted. It seems the end of the file is missing, if I open it in a hex editor, it's all blanks. I think 95% of the data is still intact, but I cannot play the movie anymore. I guess the footer is missing.

I tried to add a healty header and footer from another mp4 from the same camera, but this doesn't seem to do the trick.. My VLC debug says :
    [00000300] logger interface: using logger...
[00000312] mp4 demuxer error: MP4 plugin discarded (no moov box)
[00000312] ffmpeg demuxer error: av_open_input_stream failed
[00000293] main playlist: nothing to play

Then I tried to open in VirtualDub (with a Avisynth script), but no good.

Anyone out there who can give me a few ideas?

    Thanks, Thomas

It's not working. Yamb logfile gives me this : IsoMedia File is truncated. You think this file can still be repaired?

The only other thing I can think of is running it through AVIdemux, convert it to another file format perhaps.

Is this a bittorrent download that didn't complete? If so, the missing 5 percent isn't limited to the last 5 percent of the file. There are missing pieces throughout the file that can cause all sorts of strange behavior.

Soopafresh, no good.. AVIDemux cannot read the file either..

SCDVD, no it's not a bittorrent download. It's a little video I shot with my phone, but somehow the end of the file got corrupted. I think it happend on a faulty external USB drive. To me 95% of the file looks OK, only the last bit is all blanks and the footer is missing.. Is it not possible to restore a footer in MP4-files? I read somewhere the length of the file cannot change?
