    Hi guys,

I'm having some problems w/ my e-mail lately. I've noticed that in my
netscapes e-mail, that when I click on the send/receive button, that it does
not fire up the dialog box and does its thing with searching/checking for new
    mail.
Sometimes, I will resort to holding down the Ctrl+T keys for a while, and
sometimes 30 secs or more, and then it fires up and checks my email finally

This strangeness has ben going on for the last month or so. I've never had
this issue w/ my email - ever!! I click once on my send/receive button, and
it pops up it's search/retreave dialog box (you know, the one that has the
    progress bar)

Anywyas.. today, I was checking my e-mail (w/ this issue going on) and in
the course of doing so, I found several e-mail I did not need. So, I deleted
them. Then, when I went into my trash to delete those (maybe 15) emails
in my trash, by pressing the "File/Empty trash on Local Mail" another dialog
box poped up, very similar to the one that usually pops up w/ progress bar,
and all the sudden, I saw it diaplay a bunch of other mail titles.
Then, it created a bunch of folder in my Local Mail box:

** and notice the four folder it created under VCDHELP !!

I have a feeling that I have either a WORM or TROJAN that is still
undetected. I have many different virus packages and even stand-alone
TROJAN sniffers, but this issue w/ my e-mail is driving me crazy. I also
have a firewall in place :P
But, this is driving me crazy because I feel that perhaps even my firewall
is not catching this, or perhaps mail "leaking" out, like when I send e-mail,
am I releasing this to this "unknown person" my mail ?? while it goes through
    its stuff ??

If anyone has had similar experience, I would really appreciate any help
or assistance you can give me.

    Thanks everyone.

It's more likely that your mail files and/or NS preferences got corrupted. When I worked in a place that had decided to use Netscape Communicator 4.x as their standard web browser and mail client I saw things like that happen on a regular basis.

My first thought is to delete all your Netscape configuration and cache files because that's fixed a lot of Netscape problems in the past, but I've never gotten old NS mail files to work correctly after clearing out people's configurations or reinstalling.
