    It's not possible.

You can make a dvd with forced subs but some apps can still disable them.

It's a standard dvd with forced subs but some video players can still disable them....so they aren't permanent.

They didn't. If the subs are 'hardcoded' or 'burned' into the video, you have to reencode. If they're embedded, or forced (as Baldrick mentioned) or selectable, then no reencode is necessary. No one here cares about YIFY torrents. Ask them yourself how they did it.

Yes. As said above, any time you want to permanently hardsub a video, you HAVE to re-encode.

Edit: Does SubMerge do hardsubs? If not, it's not creating permanent subtitles. Instead, it's creating softsubs, which you can switch on and off.
(Haven't tried SubMerge... don't usually do much video work on my Mac. )
If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?

  9. Yeah, I haven't used it either, but it seems to be for Mac only. The submerge site says it hardcodes the subs by reencoding the video, but one of the comments about it on this site says it can embed subs without reencoding, but I'm not sure I believe what the guy said,.
