  1. Hi Everybody.

I want to make a PAL DVD from my MPEG-4 videos. What is the best way to get a good quality PAL video from a MPEG-4 video.
I am pretty new at this conversion subject. I have ProCoder3, but all my efforts ended up with low quality PAL video. Am I using the wrong settings? Should I use another method?

    Thank you.

I tried it. The conversion is pretty good but output video is jerking/stuttering.

I have changed the encoding option under preferences as it is directed in the help file.

However the stuttering didn't go away. How can I fix this?

    Thanks.

  5. are you sure you need a PAL dvd ? Most PAL spec players play NTSC material

Assuming your material really is 29.97p , there is no "nice" way of converting 29.97p => 25p . You drop frames because a simple slowdown is too large and noticeable. This is choppy.

For film material 23.976p => 25p , you can do a simple speedup (incl. audio) , because the difference is smaller. This is what is normally done. This will play back smooth because no frame drops or insertions

  6. Well the DVD will be distributed to many people. So people will watch it on different DVD players. As far as I know not every PAL DVD player does a good job converting the video from NTSC. That is why I want to take care of that issue.

I used MediaInfo to look at the properties of my videos. They look like they are 29.97 fps.

  7. Yeah, but as pdf said, if the 'real' framerate is 23.976fps, it can be done properly. If it's really 29.97fps then you're always going to have missing frames (or a blurry mess). The way you can tell which you have is by advancing frame-by-frame and seeing if there's a duplicate frame in every 5. If there is, that would mean it's film-based and it can be converted to 25fps properly. Otherwise, if you insist on making a PAL DVD out of it, you're screwed.

  8. It looks like my video is 29.97. I have checked 5 frames in Premiere Pro. None look the same. They all are advancing frames.
Somebody must have solved this problem.

Converting between video formats is almost never recommended here by anyone simply because of the end results you are experiencing right now. DVD players that convert "on the fly" do a better job than you ever will.
