I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a set minimum bitrate for DVD's? I've been fooling around with converting some TV caps to the dvd standard 352x480 resolution and using an average bitrate of around 5200bps. I was thinking about some of the SVCDs that I have (which are at 2200bps) and I realized that they look pretty damn good. I'm sure its possible to encode a DVD at this bitrate (2200) but my question is "Is this standard and will all dvd players be able to play at this bitrate?"
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

The DVD specification doesn't call out a minimum bitrate. However, the PRACTICAL MINIMUM BR is around 1Mbps to 1.5Mbps. Anyway, most encoding programs that use VBR won't ever get this low (unless you are trying to "push the envelope" with your conversions).
