Brought this dvd recorder back from storage and trying to hook it up to the tv.
Cant seem to get the display showing, read the manual and folowed the instructions but still did not get a display.

I have the ant cable coming from the wall to the cable adapter, I do not have a cable box, the adapter is working fine for receiving the tv signal.
Then I have the ant from the cable adapter to the dvd recorder, and the dvd recorder to the tv.
Then I had the AV out - R + L audio + Video connected to the tv on input 1

    Am I doing something wrong?
Shoculdnt I atleast get the display of the DVD recorder?

Those little cable adapters supply output on channel 3 or 4 similar to what a VCR does when playing a tape. Did you try setting the DVD recorder's tuner to channel 3 or 4?

Yes, check your RF coax connections. It is easy to make a mistake because the labels on the adapter's RF connection are frequently not easy to read.

These are the relevant steps, and how I have one of my own DVD recorders connected to a cable box:

    1. Connect the coax cable from the wall to the cable adapter's RF in.
    2. Connect the cable adapter's RF out to the DVD recorder's RF in.
    3. Connect the DVD recorder S-Video or composite video out, plus stereo audio out to corresponding inputs on TV. (Note that the DVD recorder's RF out is a pass through. This means the RF out from the DVD recorder will only supply an analog A/V video signal on channel 3 or 4 since that is all it is receiving. Do not connect the DVD recorder's RF out to anything at this point.)
    4. Turn on the cable adapter, DVD recorder and TV
    5. Set the TV's input to the set you are using for the DVD recorder's output.
    6. Set DVD recorder's tuner to channel 3 or 4, depending on what the adapter output is set to.
