    Hi

Are those little Gadgets that pertain to convert Composite to S-Video worth buying ?

  2. If you have to convert composite to s-video they work. But you'll get dot crawl artifacts.

If you are talking about capturing from a composite source with a device that can capture either composite or s-video, you will likely find that the capture device has a comb filter to eliminate/reduce dot crawl artifacts from the composite input. The filter will be bypassed when capturing from s-video. So the s-video capture will be worse.

Suppose I do not have to.

I was thinking of one of those little inline types, setup like this....

    VHS comp out > Comp to S - Vid Convert > AVT-8710 > ADVC - 55

  5. Your best bet is to get a SVHS deck. Of couse, that costs a lot more than a passive composite/s-video adapter!
