I just spent all my money on Premiere Pro CS3 and when I install it and everything seems fine I try to import my camera files "MPEG-2" It says file type not supported! I don't want to have to convert my videos all the time either. Is there some type of plugin from adobe or something? If there is please send me a link to it or tell me what its called. Please respond.

Didn't you try the demo/trial first?

Mainconcept has a plugin for mpeg editing but it's very expensive. But I would instead use mpeg video wizard.

    I need something free.
Not a editor. Just something that will make Premiere work with MPEG-2 without having to do that every time before I edit a movie.

the retail version imports and exports mpeg-2 natively. the demo does not.

I have a JVC Hard Disk Camcorder. It saves the MPEG files as .MOD.
I couldn't import the files until I renamed them to .avi.
I was able to bring it in after that.

I own the CS3 Master Collection -- I assure you that the legitimate version imports MPEG-2 natively, without any problems at all. I did it as recent as this morning, in fact.

MPeg2 import requires registration. It is an import to RGB, with generation loss.

Premier CS3 should import mpeg2. I do it all the time. Someone suggested Mainconcept...erm, it's already built into Premier. Demux the mpeg2 file into seperate video and audio streams, see if you can import the video that way.

Another resort is to import it via avisynth, create an avs that points to your mpeg2 file, then import the avs into Premier. I use this method to import many file types into Premier (for conversion to DVD) such as h.264 mkv, mp4, etc.

The Premier AVS Plugin is here:

Sounds like a cloaking statement to me. You have been asking about this for months. https://forum.videohelp.com/topic351548.html#1851643 Buy it and your problems will go away.
