Step one - stop using crap like xilisoft.
Step two - try AVStoDVD, which will happily vonvert your file using a high quality encoder (HCenc), then author a disc ready for burning
Step three - burn the results with imgburn

As for your current problem - try GUIforDVDAuthor

You already have ConvertxtoDVD, so why do you need Xilisoft ? It will handle all the formats Xilisoft will and authors a compliant disc for you.

As for all rounders - I prefer Xvid4PSP, and if I need a quick and dirty, Any Video Converter Free

Thought I'd put in a good word for XMedia Recode,
I like it because it offers Xvid CQ mode.

I prefer Xvid4psp 5.0.36, although I am finding the beta version 6 is getting better. I still prefer to use a dedicated avi to dvd converter (I use AVStoDVD mostly) for quick DVD authoring, and a proper encoder and separate authoring tool for more complicated work. For other format conversions Xvid4PSP does me just fine.
