    Hi,

I got some AVI files of a friend as when he plays them back on his PC via WindowsMediaPlayer they are in 4:3(PAL) ratio so I had a search and found MPEG4 Modifier (v1.44 I think) which converted them to 16:9 (PAL) and when I played them back via VLC player on my PC they were fine as I don't use WMP by default.

I thought this was done and handed him the AVI's back once I'd run them all through MPEG4 Modifier but on his PC via WMP they still playback in 4:3. He wont install VLC player as his like WMP too much so I'm stuck as what to do next.

    Any help would be great.

WMP ignores the avi aspect ratio. Force him to use VLC....

lol, I tried that, I even installed it on his PC but he gave it a try and uninstalled it. I guess I will have to re-encode the files wont I? how do I do that so they stay the same exect the ratio?

Reconvert to a 16:9 size like 640x360, with for example the very simple winff. Convert to avi xvid.
