    I am thinking about buying the HP300e.When I record from my vcr do I have to put it on my hard drive first? Has anybody used any of these software bundles Software included: ArcSoft ShowBiz DVD; Veritas RecordNow, DLA, and Simple Backup; HP Memories Disc Creator; CyberLink PowerDVD; ArcSoft Multimedia Email. I am using the AVerMedia USB2.0 DVD EZmaker Video Capture Device to make vcds.

    That unit is just an external burner. You would have to capture the video to your hard drive first.

    HP also makes a burner that has video inputs so you can directly connect the vcr to it. It is also a normal external burner for the pc. It will capture directly to the disc. I haven't used it, so I don't know the quality if the capture.
