  1. Having a strange problem with MediaCoder. After saving video files in lower bitrate, usually mp4, find that in various File Explorers the thumbnails do not show, just the logo for Default Video player.
Videos seems to play ok but another problem is the File Explorers, become pretty unusable as they freeze for minute or two, like when switching between tabs.
When I moved the suspect files (where thumbs did not show) into separate folder and did not access them in Explorer, all tabs worked fine, so obviously its those files causing the freeze up.
Cant figure out why MediaCoder would suddenly cause the prob when re-coding, used to work just fine with thumbs showing, etc
Tried re installing but same problem.

Probably because the video is 10-bit instead of 8-bit.

  5. Well could be, most of the problem ones are 10 bit, but still not totally sure as there were also a few 8 bit with same prob.
Guess there is no way to adjust this in MediaCoder when re coding?
or is it worth trying another coder?

Just don't use High10 (or Auto) as Profile.

  7. Hooray, it worked
Looks like you were right changed profile from Auto to Main and re-coded all the prob files and now all are fine with thumbs showing.
But just shows you as kind of novice with these complicated progs all it needs is one thing to be incorrect and process is buggered.
But thankfully solved now and another item added to the learning curve
So thanks for advice, saved a lot of hassle!
