I've been working with 2 gig video files on a 8 year old mac laptop. The reason we use this is because our streaming server only allows quicktime format, and Movie Maker lets us add 'hints' to create a streaming .MOV. If I do not add 'hints' the streaming server won't stream the file correctly.

The old mac is killing me. It takes up to half a day to encode one presentation. If any subsequent edits are asked for, I have to go through the same long wait again. Due to budget issues we cannot upgrade the mac.

I do have a i7 processor machine with two Velociraptor drives sitting here begging to be used for video work.

Are there any video editing applications (in the Windows world) that include a way to add the quicktime streaming 'hints' to .MOV files?

For less than $500 you could get a used Mac desktop or Mini perhaps, a year or two old that would blow the laptop away.

Check out local dealers, repair shops, etc, ask for a 12 month guarantee.

Much cheaper in time spent in converting to a different workflow on a PC.
