  1. My Nikon dslr camera rubber cover panel is pealing off.... It happened to me the same with my old Nikon. It seems to be a permanent problem with Nikon cameras. Do you have any glue recommendation? The glue needs to be flexible enough and keep the rubber panel on the metal housing of the camera....
    Thanks so much!

I use Gorilla glue and it should work for your purpose.
But use it sparingly. And clean the surfaces with isopropyl alcohol first.
And I would test both on similar surfaces first.

  3. If you need only glue then perhaps:

to fix corrupted surface then perhaps this:

Surface need to be prepared - use some automotive silicone cleaner (normally used before painting) - usually they cleaning very well.

  4. Doesn't Gorilla Glue require water to activate, and doesn't it foam when that happens? I love the stuff, but I'm not sure I'd use it here. (Here is a link to the Gorilla Glue instructions, and the first sentence says to moisten both surfaces: Gorilla Glue Instructions.)

I just recently got introduced to E6000. Like Gorilla Glue, it is widely available. I like it because it stays just a little flexible. I would think that would be very important for anything made of something that itself is flexible, like your rubber.

  5. Nikon does not actually use glue to affix the annoying rubber grip panels on its cameras: they use a special two-sided adhesive tape, which is one of several issues causing the damned things to keep falling off. The reason they use tape instead of glue is they need the rubber bits to be easily removable for servicing: some Nikon bodies have assembly screws hidden under the rubber. So it is advisable to examine carefully under any any rubber grips you are thinking of gluing for a more secure fit. Be sure there are no screwheads, ventilation holes or access holes: if all you see is a smooth solid surface, gluing should be OK, otherwise use the special tape.

You can purchase replacement rubber grips and/or the adhesive tape from multiple vendors on eBay or Amazon. Also, Nikon itself or its authorized repair centers will sometimes agree to sell the parts (despite official policy being against it). I am having this problem of loose/peeling grips with my Nikon D700, and am considering options like these:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/3M-Rubber-Grip-REPAIR-REPLACEMENT-TAPE-NIKON-D4-D3x-D3-D3s-D30...item35c8411dd0

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-back-Rear-Grip-Rubber-Cover-Unit-For-Nikon-D700-DSLR-Camer...item4adebe96be

Note it may be better in some cases to replace the rubber rather than simply re-stick it. One major reason the grips fall off is they expand in size with age and use, until they no longer fit the body recess perfectly. Once their edges are exposed above the recess, it is very hard to make the grips stay in place. New replacement grips will be the correct smaller size. Third party Chinese knockoffs are fine if you can't source the "genuine" Nikon rubbers: there's no significant difference.
