    Would be happy to get a sample RIFF AVI file with INTERLACED MJPEG inside!
    That is, each frame should consist of two JPEGs.
    I then could just peep at the format, rather than bury myself into a specs which I even do not have. By now I feel relatively free in regular progressive MJPEG AVIs.

    It seems ffdshow's VfW encoder supports interlaced output,

    so you can create your own sample files

    ffmpeg should be able to do the trick as well.
