    Hi there,

I have a source video, recorded from TV, and I'm gonna encode it to x264 using mencoder.

Now, the bitrate calculation for audio and video is not a problem but I don't know how to calculate the hight and width.

When I have used AutoGK to encode some recorded episodes to XviD they all have different resolution when the source have been the same.

Does anyone know as to make an optimal resolution calculation?

Thanks, but how do I decide what width to set as output-width?
Are there any rules to follow?

    For a test, try 640x352 for 16x9 or 640x480 for 4:3
