  1. I'm trying to decide which transport protocol to utilize for live stream playing and seeking. There are HLS, HDS, DASH, RTMPT.

I want to be able to transport over port 80 (so HTTP), i require adaptive bitrate streaming, and i want to allow seeking back and forth (maximum: live) with hardware support.

For iOS i know the transport protocol is natively HLS. Done and Done.

For Desktop i suppose one can just use Flash Player and support HLS, HDS or RTMPT. Im not sure what OSMF offers.

For Android, what a mess. For a stable transport protocol i believe using Adobe AIR for HDS or RTMPT are the only choices.

Can someone educate me on the common demoninator that will work across all devices? Is Adobe AIR the solution Or must one use a Media Server (Wowza or Adobe) to dynamically re-package files? If i understand correctly the segmented file will always be in h.264+AAC but the original container could be MPEG-TS, F4F, etc.

    THanks
