  1. I have a Gateway desktop computer that's about 7 or so years old. I want to replace the DVD drive cuz it's been getting funky about playing Netflix DVDs.

I'm considering buying a new Lite-On IHAS22406 Internal DVD drive. It's also a burner which I don't care about but all new drives seem to be burners.

My question is will a Lite-On IHAS22406 DVD drive work in my old computer? If so, do I also need to get a SATA II 3Gbps cable with 4-pin Molex adapter?

    Thanks.

It should work fine as drives do not really suck up any resources themselves.

And if you get a SATA drive and your PC does not have SATA connections then yes you would need to get the adapters and a SATA PCI card.

But it would be much easier and better to just get an IDE drive for a system that old.
